Western Region Operations Manager
Woodrow has spent over 30 years with Flint Group starting as a batch weigher in 1986.
“I actually started with Sinclair & Valentine in 1986. We were purchased by Flint Ink in 1993. I was a batch weigher making paper & board, sheetfed, news ink, you name it, I made it. All I wanted was a chance to show I could be known for my brain versus my brawn. I received that chance in late 1994 where I was promoted to second shift supervisor. Of course, people who knew me, knew that was just the beginning of my advancements.
In 2001, I had the chance to become an operations manager of a site in West Chicago, IL. This is where I really “cut my teeth” in management. Flint Group allowed me to make a name for myself by investing heavily in me through training courses, seminars & countless programmes where I learned many different ways to succeed as well as how to ensure customer satisfaction and assist the sales staff in top line growth.
In my 30 years, I have enjoyed numerous promotions but one thing I have tried not to lose is where I came from. The people that work with me or that know me from my many travels know my story... I share it - not to brag but to motivate. I often try to talk to the people in the facilities that I have the pleasure of being the regional manager of, in speaking to them, I tell them that I once was in that same uniform making that same ink. I also tell them that if they want to better themselves, this is the company to do it in. There are numerous opportunities for a Flint Group employee to grow. You just have to work hard and not give up. If I can do it, anyone can.
I love what I do. Not just now but since that first day 30 years ago.
